Richard Lanigan

Born in London to Irish immigrant parents in 1957. Educated in Ireland, he was the class clown as far as the teachers were concerned, but made boring classes entertaining, by asking questions the teachers struggled to answer. One thing life has taught me, is how little humans (especially most politicians) know about well being and happiness. If you are a righteous "know all", talking like you can predict the future, be prepared to answer my questions. I don't mind being wrong about things as it means I have learned something new. I am a "Socialist", a term often used pejoratively by the most ignorant and greedy. In a nutshell, Socialism means, workers should have control over what they produce, be well paid and taxed on their earnings to contribute to the general needs of the community; Health Education and Security, with the general aim of achieving a cohesive society. Humans have been evolving for hundreds of thousands of years, with different language and cultures. Rather than make their own country as good as it could be, European governments saw the colonisation and exploitation of other countries as progress for them. North America and Australia were ethnically cleansed of its indigenous people. Africa Asia and South America exploited and impoverished by colonisation. Native cultures were supressed by Eurocentric values, like slavery or apartheid in South Africa and even using religion. I lived in Denmark from 1979 to 1991 and having travelled the world, I believe this is as close as you can get to an ideal society and what all countries should aspire to emulate. I originally trained as a Physical Education teacher and was one of the pioneers of the fitness boom in 80s Denmark. In 1991 I went back to University to study Chiropractic, had a successful private practice in London for many years and retired in 2023. In July, November and March, I go to Nicaragua for three weeks, practicing chiropractic in their main rehabilitation hospital in Managua. Fair to say, I love being there and have found it to be nothing like the totalitarian country, described by most European and US politicians and the corporate media.
